Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you sign up, we receive your email address and name from your authentication provider (Google or X). We store this so you can log back in and access your library. We also store the articles, PDFs, and text you add to WordUpAI, along with the generated audio files.

If you add your own OpenAI API key in Settings, it is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before being stored. We never log or transmit it in plaintext.

How we use it

Your data is used solely to operate the service: generating audio from your content, saving your playback position, and enforcing the free-tier usage limit. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

Third-party services

WordUpAI relies on the following services to operate:

  • Clerk — authentication (email, Google, X OAuth)
  • Convex — database hosting
  • OpenAI — text-to-speech generation
  • Cloudflare R2 — audio file storage
  • Vercel — web hosting

Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

Cookies & tracking

We use session cookies set by Clerk to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

Data retention & deletion

Your articles and audio files are retained until you delete them. If you delete your account, all associated data is removed. To request deletion, email us at ethan@dovo.app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ethan@dovo.app.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of WordUpAI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
